The 4OP to DX7 Conversion Project4-op (and some 2-op) FM patches converted to be used

The Yamaha DX7 is probably the most popular
synth of all times. Also it is the synth for which the biggest
amount of free and commercial patches have been created, and
still new ones are created. These are now almost all available
on the internet in the form of downloadable System Exclusive
files. Literally thousands can be found, but patch-hungry DX7
owners are never satisfied!
As the creator of projects like
DXconvert,
The Reface DX Legacy Project, and - from the good old Atari ST days -
YSEDITOR I have worked with
4-operator FM synths from the very beginning. And I frequently
received the same question over and over again: Can patches
from the 4-operator Yamaha FM synths (like the FB01, DX100,
DX21, TX81Z, DX11, V50) be loaded in a DX7 or compatible
6-operator FM synth? The short answer is no. The
long answer is: Yes, but they have to be converted using
DXconvert first.
This website has been created to give you the easiest
answer to that question! Powered by DXconvert I have converted
a huge amount of patches from many 4-operator FM synths to DX7
and DX7II(FD) System Exclusive files. Simply click on the
images and download whatever you need.
Using additional conversion software it should be possible to
convert these DX7 SysEx files to Yamaha SY/TG77, SY99. And
using the online
Yamaha FM Converter even to Yamaha Montage or MODX format.
But I leave that to you, since I don't own any of these great
but complex machines.
Enjoy and make some great music!
